# arcade.ly > Free, browser-based homages to classic arcade games - Shoot The Rocks (Asteroids) and Star Citadel (Star Castle) - that play on desktop, phone and tablet with nothing to install, plus a blog by their author, Bart Read. Each game has two variants. Classic stays close to the original arcade machine's mechanics. Modern is meant to be more accessible to today's players and changes the mechanics: in Shoot The Rocks, for example, some asteroids take several hits, and there are black holes and power-ups. Both games keep a public hiscore table for each variant. On desktop and laptop the games are played with the keyboard. On phones and tablets you tilt the device to steer and touch the screen to thrust and fire. ## Games - [Shoot The Rocks](https://arcade.ly/games/asteroids/): homage to Atari's 1979 arcade game Asteroids, including the controls - [Shoot The Rocks tips and tricks](https://arcade.ly/asteroids-tips-and-tricks) - [Star Citadel](https://arcade.ly/games/starcastle/): homage to Cinematronics' 1980 arcade game Star Castle, including the controls - [Star Citadel tips and tricks](https://arcade.ly/star-castle-tips-and-tricks) - [The story of Star Castle and Star Citadel](https://arcade.ly/star-castle-star-citadel-story) - [Hiscores](https://arcade.ly/hiscores) ## Blog - [Every blog post, with summaries](https://arcade.ly/blog/llms.txt): regenerated on every build - [Blog home](https://arcade.ly/blog/) ## MCP server - [arcade.ly MCP server](https://arcade.ly/mcp): a read-only, unauthenticated Streamable HTTP MCP endpoint.
