Settings
Choose which visual enhancements arcade.ly uses, whether it should honour your browser's motion, transparency, and colour scheme preferences, and whether music and sound effects play. Changes only take effect once you press Save or Apply below.
This page exists in honour of the most excellent Mr Robert Chipperfield who viscerally despises all forms of bling and other such vain fripperies in all software applications.
Visual enhancements
Enables or disables every visual enhancement below. Turning this off overrides every individual setting underneath it.
Enables or disables every visual enhancement in the site header - the logo, reflections, palm trees, and night sky.
Enables or disables the mirrored reflections beneath the header logo, subtitle, and palm art.
Enables or disables the rippling, water-like distortion within the header reflections. Has no effect if reflections are disabled.
Enables or disables the palm tree leaves gently moving, as if stirred by a breeze.
Enables or disables the moon and stars above the header palm trees twinkling.
Enables or disables the neon flicker and spark effect that occurs when you hover over parts of the header.
Enables or disables every visual enhancement in the left and right sidebars that flank the page content.
Enables or disables the layered parallax scrolling effect in the sidebars. When disabled, the sidebar layers stay still while you scroll the page.
Enables or disables the sidebars fading in when the page first loads.
Enables or disables every visual enhancement in the main content area.
Enables or disables page content streaming in character-by-character, like an old computer terminal. When disabled, content simply appears as soon as it has loaded.
Enables or disables the bright cursor and fading glow trail on the leading edge of streaming content. When disabled, content streams in without it.
Enables or disables every effect on the switches on this page, and on the connector lines between related switches.
Enables or disables the fade as the connector lines light up or dim. When disabled, the lines change state instantly.
Enables or disables sparks flying from the connector lines as switches are turned on and off, and occasionally while they are lit.
Enables or disables the heavier frame that fades in around a switch as you hover over it, the sparks from its lit connector lines while you do, and the brighter background while you press it.
Enables or disables the warning lights on the Save, Apply and Cancel bar flashing as the page scrolls. When disabled the lights stay dark.
Honour browser preferences
If your browser or operating system asks websites to reduce motion, switches most visual enhancements off automatically. Reflections stay, since they are not in motion.
If your browser or operating system asks websites to reduce transparency, switches off parallax scrolling and header reflections automatically.
If your browser or operating system asks for a light colour scheme, inverts arcade.ly's colours to suit. If disabled, or unsupported by your browser, arcade.ly always uses its normal dark theme.
When the light colour scheme above is active, also inverts the colours of the games themselves.
Sound
Enables or disables music in every arcade.ly game. This is the same setting as the Music button on each game's settings screen.
Enables or disables sound effects in every arcade.ly game. This is the same setting as the Sfx button on each game's settings screen.
Enables or disables sound effects elsewhere on arcade.ly, outside the games, such as the switch sounds on this page.
