The arcade.ly MCP server

arcade.ly has an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server. Add it to an AI assistant or agent and it can answer questions about the site directly: which games there are and how to play them, who's top of the hiscore tables, and what's on the blog.

It's free, read-only, and needs no account or sign-in.

Connecting

The server's address is:

https://arcade.ly/mcp

It speaks the Streamable HTTP transport, for clients on either the 2025 or the 2026-07-28 version of the protocol. Most MCP clients only need that address. In Claude Code, for example:

claude mcp add --transport http arcadely https://arcade.ly/mcp

In other clients, look for an option to add a remote, or HTTP, MCP server, or a custom connector, and give it the address above.

What it offers

It has four tools, all read-only:

So you can ask your assistant things like "What's the top score in Star Citadel?", "How do I hyperspace in Shoot The Rocks?" or "What has Bart written about perceived performance?".

Fair use

The server is rate limited, so it can never slow the site down for people playing the games: 30 requests a minute from any one address, and a limit on all clients together. Over the limit, requests are refused for the rest of the minute. That's plenty for an assistant answering questions, but not for scraping.

The blog content is regenerated every time the site is built, so it's always current. Hiscores are a few seconds behind at most.

Privacy

The server sets no cookies. So I can see whether, and how, it's used, it logs each tool call: which tool, what it was asked for (such as which game's hiscores, or which post), and the name of the client that asked, such as the AI assistant. It also counts tool calls in GoatCounter, the same privacy-friendly analytics the rest of the site uses, without your IP address or any other way of telling who you are. Requests also go in the site's ordinary web server logs, like a request for any other page. See privacy and compliance for more.

Hiscore names are chosen by players, and the server gives them out exactly as they appear on the hiscore tables.

Not using MCP?

The same information is summarised for LLMs at /llms.txt, following the llms.txt convention.
